Here are some key information about the Leaving Certificate French examination as well as important dates for 2016.
Dates for 2016
Oral examination: It will take place over the period of April 11th to April 22nd, 2016.
Written examination: TBC
Aural examination: TBC
Students who leave the written examination early must come back for the aural examination.
Format of the examination for Higher and Ordinary levels
Oral examination: One to one conversation with an examiner appointed by the State examination Commission.
The examination is a 12 minute conversation on different topics. You can also bring in a document to discuss. See our oral section for more details.
The conversation is recorded so that if you appeal your result, the oral can also be checked.
Aural examination: The listening exam lasts for 40 minutes and takes place after the written paper. It has 5 sections. Once the examination starts, it cannot be interrupted.
Written examination: The written examination has two parts. Section I is written comprehensions (2 for Higher level and 4 for Ordinary level) and Section II is the written expression (3 exercises at Higher Level and 2 at Ordinary Level).
The oral examination is common to all students and examiners do not know what level you intend to choose in the June examination.
In June, you are entitled to change level. Just indicate it to the superintendent.
